The Faroese government strongly condemns Russia’s attempt to annex the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.

A press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reads as follows:

"The so-called referenda that Russia has conducted in occupied regions are illegal, and the results can under no circumstances be considered to represent the will of the people residing in these regions.”

The press release goes on to say:

“When a country annexes parts of another country through military conquest, it is a blatant breach of international law and the UN charter. Russia’s annexation of the Ukrainian territories therefore has no legal value.”
