Dalurin langi, the large valley by Hoyvík’s sports hall, will soon be turned into a special green recreational area.

Tórshavn City Council has begun implementing its plan for the valley, which includes footpaths, common areas, play areas and other facilities aimed at making this a place where people can come to relax and enjoy themselves.

Bring a spade

Parts of the area will be densely populated with trees, while other parts will be more open, according to the city council, which expects to plant a total of 50,000 new trees in the valley.

All residents in the area are invited to a special planting day on Saturday.

The day will start with breakfast at 11am, and then the planting will begin. Attendees are asked to bring their own spade.
