Tougher penalties for mobile phone use while driving

Using a mobile phone while driving may soon result in having your driving licence endorsed.
This is one of the changes to the Road Traffic Act that the government is planning.
The plan is also to increase the fine for mobile phone use while driving from DKK 1,000 to DKK 1,500.

Another planned change to the Road Traffic Act is that the drink driving rehabilitation course will be expanded to also include information about drugs.
In addition, the government wants to clarify the rules regarding electric scooters.
According to the police and the Faroese Vehicle Administration, it is against the law to use these scooters in areas covered by the Road Traffic Act.
Police said last year that riders of electric scooters should expect fines of approximately DKK 1,000.
