The country’s tunnel plans are as ambitious as ever.

The government has allocated DKK 1 million for planning work for a tunnel to Tjørnuvík. Another DKK 1 million has been earmarked for this project for 2024.

Up next is a tunnel to the Eysturoy village of Gjógv, transport minister Dennis Holm announced at a special event in Sandoy on Thursday to celebrate the final blast in the tunnel between Húsavík and Dalur. No funding has yet been allocated to the Gjógv tunnel project.

DKK 1 million has been set aside for planning work for a tunnel to Vestmanna, Streymoy.

DKK 10 million has been budgeted for preparation for the subsea tunnel between the central region and Suðuroy.
