Help shape Faroese language teaching for immigrants

Members of the Faroese immigrant community have called for greater international involvement in the teaching of Faroese as a second language.

Here’s your chance to make your voice heard.

The Directorate of Education is looking for a coordinator for its Faroese as a second language programme.

This newly created position offers the opportunity to play a significant role in shaping the development of Faroese as a second language teaching for adults.

The coordinator will collaborate with a broader school administration team working across all educational levels to enhance the effectiveness of Faroese as a second language teaching.

Applicant requirements:

- A relevant master's degree in education or a related field

- Strong administrative and interpersonal skills

- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects while also contributing effectively to team projects

- A service-minded attitude

- Ability and willingness to think creatively and innovatively

The job advert does not mention any Faroese language proficiency requirements. However, according to the Directorate of Education, some proficiency in Faroese is desirable, but fluency is not essential as this is an administrative role.
