Christmas charity concert raises half of last year's amount

The spirit of giving seems to have faltered this year, as proceeds from yesterday's annual Christmas concert in aid of cash-strapped families with young children dropped by half compared to last year's event.
“I’m not very surprised by this because we have seen a huge increase in applicants over the past couple of years,” says Djóni Eidesgaard, who heads Children’s charity Barnabati, which organises the Christmas charity concert.

“Now it’s no longer just low-income families that apply for assistance, and some of those who previously donated to the fundraiser now find themselves among the applicants seeking assistance.”
Applications for Christmas support close this Thursday. The application form is available here (in Faroese only). If you have any questions, please call Barnabati on 610140, 10am-4pm and 7pm-9pm.
Approved applicants will be given vouchers for grocery stores.
