Tourist jailed for attacking customs officer

A tourist's trip to the Faroes took an unexpected turn on Saturday when he attacked a customs officer upon arrival.

The man flew into a rage when the officer told him that he was carrying quantities of tax-free goods that exceeded the permitted allowance.

He has now been sentenced to 30 days in jail. Once he has served his sentence, he will be deported and banned from re-entry for three years.
