New educational facilities in Tórshavn have created a need for greater road traffic control.
Tórshavn City Council has now set out to tackle the increased traffic by installing six new traffic lights in the western part of the city.

This means the number of traffic lights in the Faroes will double from six to 12.
One of the new traffic lights, to be installed by the Glasir college in the Marknagil district, is specifically for cyclists.
