The Data Protection Agency has issued a statement warning political parties against misuse of personal data ahead of Saturday’s election campaign.

There is no suspicion of such activity, but the agency is aware of personal data misuse abroad and wishes to ensure that this will not become an issue in Faroese elections.

“It is our duty to inform everyone involved in the general election that misuse of personal data is against the law;” says Unn Krákustein, a solicitor at the Data Protection Agency.
