A tourist information centre on every island would be of great help for the locals during the busy tourist season.

This was one of the key conclusions at the annual Útoyggjafelagið (association of outlying islands) meeting, held in Kalsoy this weekend.

“An information office in each of the small islands will not only make it easier for visitors; it will also help locals prepare their village for large numbers of tourists,” says Olga Biskupstø, coordinator of Útoyggjafelagið.

The plan is to have locals managing all the tourist information centre activities in close cooperation with the larger tourist information centres on the mainland.
