The ever-growing number of hikers is wearing down the path, and the time has come to make a proper footpath, says local farmer Johannus Kallsgarð.

So far this year, three hikers have slipped and broken their legs while walking along the muddy and worn-down path to the lighthouse.

Kallsgarð says that making a new footpath would not only make it safer to walk to the lighthouse; it will also make it easier to perform rescue operations. Rescue helicopters have been needed for all accidents in the area so far.
