Big boost to childcare in the capital

A proposal to build 168 new childcare places in Tórshavn will be debated at Wednesday’s City Council meeting.

The project is estimated to cost DKK 13.5 million.

The old lower secondary school (Realskúlin) is currently being rebuilt into a day-care centre for 60 children.

Brúni Skúli at Fríðriks Petersens gøta is also being rebuilt into a day-care centre for 64 children.

Another 44 childcare places will become available once expansion work on three existing day-care centres is completed.
