Job adverts should be gender-neutral

Job adverts should be gender-neutral
Employers are now being instructed to create job advertisements in a language which does not specify gender

21.09.2018 - 14:25

Javnstøðunevndin (The Equal Status Council) has produced a set of guidelines for employers to use when advertising job vacancies.

The guidelines advise employers to use gender-neutral terms in their job adverts and include tips on how to create advertisements for jobs whose traditional job title is gender-specific.

According to the Equal Status Council, the objectives of the new guidelines are to reduce unintended gender discrimination, boost job satisfaction and eventually to increase diversity in the job market, The guidelines (in Faroese only) can be read here.
