Seal of approval for Fámjin tunnel

Yvirfriðingarnevndin (the Faroese National Trust) approved the project, roads and the tunnel work after a visit to the Fámjin area last month.

No complaints were lodged against the project, but all such cases are forwarded to the Yvirfriðingarnevndin once the local trusts have completed their treatment of a case.

Yvirfriðingarnevndin is still looking into salmon farming company Luna’s plans to set up fish farming cages in Víkar, Vágar. Føroya Náttúru- og umhvørvisfelag (The Nature Protection Board) has appealed the decision to grant Luna a salmon farming licence in Víkar. Yvirfriðingarnevndin has visited the area and is planning a meeting with the Nature Protection Board in the near future.
