Anti-discrimination law must wait

The transport ministry has run out of time in its preparation of the bill on workplace discrimination, meaning it will most likely not be passed in this sitting.

This is the reply from transport minister Heðin Mortensen to MP Jógvan á Lakjuni, who requested an update on the matter.

With a short consultation deadline of eight days, the advisory group only managed to meet once, and not three times as planned.

Still at the planning phase

The first meeting was of a preparatory nature. This was meant to be followed by a second meeting after a draft proposal had been worded.

However, as the transport ministry has been kept busy with a number of other matters, the advisory group was not called in for further meetings.

The advisory group consisted of six representatives of trade unions and the Equal Opportunities Committee.
