The International Island Games concluded yesterday, and the Faroe Islands finished third overall in the medals table

The Faroe Islands finished third in the medals table out of 22 participating island states at the 28th International Island Games held this week in Gibraltar.

Jersey topped the table with a total of 93 medals, followed by the Isle of Man’s 68.

In third were the Faroese athletes, who amassed a total of 60 medals – 22 gold, 11 silver and 27 bronze.

The biggest Faroese medal haul came in swimming – 27 in total, with 13 golds, six silvers and eight bronzes, followed by judo – 14 in total, with five golds, two silvers and seven bronzes.

The Faroese athletes managed to break 12 event records.
