Corona tests now also available in Klaksvík

The Klaksvík Hospital management decided on Saturday to begin offering tests for the coronavirus, also known as Covid-19.
"We are seeing a rapid increase in people needing to get tested for this virus, and we believe the time is right for Klaksvík Hospital to start offering these tests,” hospital boss Alexandra á Dul told newspaper Norðlýsið.
The tests will be carried out in the staff building by the Víkavegur road.
People are asked to contact their GP or the emergency call service on 1870 and not Klaksvík Hospital directly.
UPDATE 12:38: Suðuroy Sjúkrahús in Tvøroyri is also performing corona tests. At all three hospitals, a doctor's prescription is required in order to be tested, and people are urged to stay in their car.
Hospital staff test positive
In related news, two staff members at Tórshavn’s National Hospital have tested positive for Covid-19. It is as yet unclear which hospital departments the infected persons work.
Checks are currently being made to establish whom the infected persons have been in contact with to determine who should be sent into quarantine.
UPDATE 12:40: The number of people infected at the National Hospital has now reached four.
