Many public buildings have poor wheelchair access
Disability access to public buildings needs to improve, says minister
Only 40 of the country’s 138 public buildings have satisfactory disability access, according to building authority Landsverk

Ninety-nine out of the country’s 139 public buildings have inadequate wheelchair access.

Out of these 99 buildings, ten require minor adjustments, while 89 have unsatisfactory disability access and require major adjustments.

Only 40 public buildings have satisfactory disability access.

These figures formed part of a reply by finance minister Jørgen Niclasen to an enquiry from MP Jóhannis Joensen.

The minister acknowledges the need for better disability access to public buildings and says he will work with building authority Landsverk to improve the issue in the coming years.
