New hotel finally ready to open

One of the two upcoming hotels in Tórshavn, Hotel Brandan, is finally ready to open, two months after its planned opening date in May.
The hotel, which is part of the Smyril Line consortium, will open its doors to guests this coming Wednesday.
The corona outbreak has hit the new hotel hard, with thousands of bookings suddenly being replaced by months of cancellations.

“The hotel was fully booked for most of the summer, so we have lost millions in revenue as a result of Covid-19,” says manager Pætur Trónd Thomsen.
”But we’re happy to see the borders reopening now, as new bookings are starting to flood in again. We are incredibly proud of our beautiful new hotel, and we’re really excited to welcome our first guests.”
Members of the public are invited to an opening reception today at the hotel, which is located at Oknarvegur 2 in Tórshavn.
