Employee numbers starting to recover
Employee figures are slowly starting to rise, but they are still far from pre-corona numbers.
Some 26,500 employees were registered in June, which is an increase of 1,000 on the April figure.
This is 700 less than the projected figure, which predicted 27,200 employers in June. These figures do not include people registered in the government’s job retention scheme or those on regular unemployment benefits.
The private service sector is seeing the greatest improvements in employee figures, according to Statistics Faroe Islands.
Big drop in wages
According to the projected figures, DKK 890 million would be paid in wages in June. The real figure is DKK 840 million, a difference of DKK 50 million, or 5.3 percent.
In April, this difference was about 6 percent, in May it was 9,1 percent.
In March there was no difference.
