Kringvarp Føroya’s ‘News in English’ service will most likely be included in the upcoming public service agreement, which will be valid for the next four years.

So says culture minister Jenis av Rana in his reply to an enquiry from MP Beinta Løwe Jacobsen.

Kringvarp Føroya (KvF) and the Ministry of Culture are currently putting the finishing touches on a new public service agreement, which will replace the one that officially expired at the end of 2020.

Integration

According to KvF, integration has traditionally been the remit of integration offices, local authorities and other institutions rather than KvF. But KvF adds that it will continue providing news in English if the service is included in the new public service agreement.

The culture minister says he does not expect to see the service removed from the agreement.

“This is a valuable service for our people who do not understand Faroese,” he says.
