Sandoy ferry hits land
When ”Ternan” arrived in Skopun yesterday afternoon, instead of turning into the landing place, it sailed straight on and hit the rocky land.
This happened only about a week after the ferry returned from lengthy maintenance works.
The cause of the incident and the extent of the damage have not yet been identified, according to Hilmar Eliasen, CEO of public transport company Strandfaraskip Landsins.
“No passengers were injured, and they were all taken to safety,” he says.
A revised ferry schedule for the Streymoy-Sandoy route is currently being prepared. For updates, visit the Strandfaraskip Landsins website.
