Vaccine passports ready in August at the earliest
The technical part is nearing completion, and efforts have now turned to preparing a certificate for approval by the EU

The European Union’s digital vaccine passport, known as the EU Digital COVID Certificate, will launch on 1 July.

The Hospital Service gave an update yesterday on the Faroese version of the digital passport, saying we will have to wait until early August at the earliest.

“Our app, the digital passport itself, is just about complete. We are now working on a certificate for approval by the EU,” said Steinar Eirikstoft, CEO of the Hospital Service.

“If all goes well, this certificate will be ready by the end of July, which marks the completion at our end. It is difficult to guess how long the EU’s approval process will take.”
