Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology has made its way to the Faroes
VAR helps minimise human error in refereeing by allowing the referee to communicate via a headset with officials behind the scenes who watch video replays

The World Cup qualifying home game against Israel on 1 September will mark the official introduction of VAR technology in Faroese football.

FSF, the Faroese Football Association, announced today that VAR technology will now feature in all home games played by the men’s national football team.

Now also approved for qualifiers

The VAR system has in the past few years been used in the major domestic leagues across Europe as well as in the 2018 World Cup and in EURO 2020.

But UEFA has now also approved the use of this technology in qualifying games for the FIFA World Cup and the UEFA European Championship.
