Swap your advent calendars with others
With December just around the corner, parents across the country are starting to think of what to put in their children’s advent calendars.
One of these parents is Katrin H. Sørensen, who recently came up with a good idea: why not give parents a chance to swap some of the unused toys in their homes by turning them into advent calendar presents that they can exchange with other parents?
Last weekend, she took this idea one step further and created a new Facebook page called “Endurnýtslu jólakalendari” (“recycle your advent calendars”).
A low-cost solution
“Buying 24 items for an advent calendar can be quite expensive,” she explains.
“Since most parents have lots of unused toys in their homes, I thought it might be a good idea to create a marketplace on Facebook where parents can swap these advent calendars.”
The ‘About’ section on the Facebook page reads as follows:
“Find 24 toys or items that your children no longer use and make an advent calendar out of them. The toys and items must be for a specific age group. Post a photo of the calendar presents and specify whether it is for a boy or a girl and the ideal age. Then you include the same details about the calendar you wish to receive in return.”
It is more than likely that everyone in this Facebook group can read and write English, so there shouldn’t be any language barrier issues.
