The health authorities urge caution as the new Omicron Covid variant has now been registered in the Faroes

Two positive Covid samples have been found to contain the Omicron variant, according to the chief medical officer.
Extensive contact tracing is underway.
Preliminary figures suggest that 75 positive Covid tests were registered from yesterday’s round of testing.
