New café for parents and babies

It is usually not very practical to bring your young children to a café.

But things are a bit different at Olivia – the country’s first café specifically serving parents and their children.

“Our market research, which has basically consisted of talking to lots of parents, has revealed that there is great demand for a place like this,” says Jeannett Djurhuus, who founded Olivia together with her friend and fellow mum, Rannvá Patursson.

“Olivia is a café where parents can relax while the little ones play in a specially designed playroom that is partially separated from the café.”

Olivia also offers a clothes and toys recycling service.

“We want to give parents the opportunity to sell us their pre-loved baby clothes and toys so that we can sell them on to other parents at a cheap price,” says Rannvá.

There are also facilities for changing diapers and a privacy room for breastfeeding

The two young mothers also organise various courses for parents, such as first aid for children, exercise classes for pregnant women, creative workshops and classes with stimulation and singing for babies.

“Why Olivia?” you might ask. “It’s a cute name, and we thought it would look nice,” says Rannvá.
