Imports and exports reach record highs

Fish exports amounted to DKK 11.2 billion from September 2021 to August 2022, which is the highest-ever annual export value, reports Statistics Faroe Islands.
In the first eight months of this year, fish exports increased by 35 percent compared to the same period last year.
Overall, the increased export value is mainly the result of higher prices.
Imports
The DKK 8.3 billion total import value from January to August 2022 is a 43 percent increase on the same period in 2021, which was the previous record.
Recent oil price hikes are clearly reflected in the import figures. The overall import volume went down by about 7 percent year-on-year, but we spent 90 percent more on fuel.
