Police advise against driving until 10am

Police this morning issued a statement discouraging any driving until 9am-10am this morning when driving conditions are expected to improve.

Police have received more than 80 reports of wind damage. The worst-hit areas are Leirvík, Gøta and Klaksvík.

Power cuts

The rough weather last night caused major power cuts in the central region.

Public energy provider SEV says that electricity has been restored everywhere now.

More wind is expected later today, and SEV cannot rule out further power cuts.
