Photos: pop sensation returns home

Faroese TikTok users have known it for quite some time.
And now the adults are waking up to this fact, too.
The Faroes have an international pop star.
Rani Petersen, who goes by the artist name of Reiley, has more than 10 million TikTok followers and has already signed a deal with one of the world’s largest record companies, Atlantic Records.
And earlier this month, Reiley became the first Faroese artist to win the Danish Eurovision Song Contest.

Yesterday, he returned to the Faroes where hundreds of fans showed up for a special reception in Tórshavn’s SMS shopping centre.
"I am fully aware that Eurovision is regarded as rather ‘kitch’. But the contest has made a bit of a comeback in recent years and has become cool again,” Reiley said at the event.
“Eurovision has been the launchpad for many great artists, and I am very happy to be part of it.”
Hundreds of children and their parents had made their way to SMS to celebrate Reiley’s success.
“I’m looking forward to arranging my Eurovision show,” he said.
“The stage in Liverpool is a lot bigger than the one we used in Denmark, and that allows for a lot of creativity in terms of design and performance.”
Many children took selfies with Reiley to post on their TikTok or Instagram profiles.
