Klaksvík subsea tunnel traffic has tripled

Since the Leirvík-Klaksvík subsea tunnel was taken into use in 2006, traffic figures have tripled, according to a new report.

Last year saw a total of 1,308,519 vehicles travelling through the tunnel, which is a daily average of 3,585.

The annual number of vehicles in 2006, when the tunnel opened, was 448,884, and the following year it grew to 662,828.
