On 16 September, Food authority HFS implemented a sales ban on Faer Isles Distillery’s North Atlantic Subsea Vodka minutes before launch.

The reason was that subsea water had not been approved for human consumption.

The Vodka Masters, one of the world’s most prestigious vodka competitions, recently awarded the North Atlantic Subsea Vodka a gold medal in the Super Premium category.

After having analysed the vodka and the water, the HFS has now approved it and lifted its sales ban.

The first bottles will go on sale in Rúsdrekkasøla landsins (“Rúsan”) stores across the country on Friday.
