Fake hotel competition on Facebook

Hotel Brandan is warning against a scam competition in which Facebook users are asked to click a link to claim a free stay at the hotel.
This is a scam, says hotel manager Virgar Enghamar.
“We are currently running a competition on Facebook, but we noticed yesterday that someone has hacked our Facebook account.”
The hack was discovered and stopped quickly, but some Facebook users received a message written in Icelandic saying that they had won a luxury weekend stay at Hotel Brandan.
Personal information
They are asked to click a link, which takes them to a site where they are asked to provide personal information such as bank details.
“This is a scam. We never request such information in our competitions, and we only communicate publicly in Faroese and English,” says the hotel manager.
“As always, it makes good sense to be vigilant when you are asked to provide personal information.”
