What foreign workers must earn to bring family to Faroes

A non-Danish worker must have a minimum gross monthly income of DKK 27,504 to bring a young child to the Faroes.
A further DKK 3,187 is needed per month per additional child, up to a total of four children.
These figures are laid out in a proposed amendment to the directive on minimum income for foreign workers who want to bring family members to the Faroes.
If the family member brought to the country is a spouse or a cohabiting partner, the required minimum gross monthly income is DKK 33,784.
The monthly minimum rises to DKK 38,818 if the family members consist of a spouse/cohabiting partner and a young child. A further DKK 1,248 is needed per month per additional child up to a total of four children.

According to the Ministry of Justice, these changes are necessary because there are indications that many fast-track workers are unable to provide for the family members that they have brought to the country.
The proposed amendment (available in Danish only) has been sent out for consultation to the relevant authorities. The consultation deadline is 25 July.

The changes will only apply to people who apply for residence permits in the Faroes after the amendment comes into force.
