Police step in as couple begs for jobs
Couple from an EU country was asking for jobs outside stores in Tórshavn

A young couple from abroad has been seen in recent days outside grocery stores in Tórshavn with signs asking for jobs.

Police officers yesterday asked the couple to go to the right place to look for jobs, in this case the Immigration Office.

It is not against the law to ask for work in this way, but it is inappropriate, according to the police.

The couple, from an EU country outside of the Nordics, had arrived in the Faroes from Iceland where they worked.

They were informed that foreign nationals require a work permit to work in the Faroes.
