Police on lookout for sexual groomers

Two men are currently being held in custody on charges of sexually abusing children online.
One of them is also charged with having had sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 15.
The men are charged with indecent exposure along with possessing and sharing pornographic photos and videos of children.
Online grooming is where a person befriends a child online and builds up their trust with the intention of exploiting them. Harm caused by grooming can be sexual abuse, both in person and online, and exploitation to obtain sexually explicit images and videos of a child.
At least 14 grooming victims
Police have so far identified 14 children who have been subjected to online grooming in the Faroes, and the number may be significantly higher, according to Heri Andreasen, the head of criminal investigations at the Faroese police.
“I would advise parents to make sure that their children actually know the people they communicate with on social media,” he says.
Investigations have also led to two Danish individuals, who have been grooming numerous children in Denmark and the Faroes. This information has been passed on to Danish police for further investigation.
