Fewer people want to become teachers
The number of applicants to the teachers’ college in 2023 equals the lowest figure from 2019

Only 52 people applied to the teachers’ college this year, reports the Teachers’ Association magazine, Skúlablaðið.
This is the same figure as in 2019, which was the lowest number since 2008 when teacher training became a bachelor degree at the faculty of education at the University of the Faroe Islands.
The average number of applicants since 2008 is 74.6.
The highest number of applicants came in 2016 when 91 people applied.
