Jóanis Erik Køtlum has resigned from his position as CEO of the National Hospital and the head of the national hospital service.

Køtlum wished to resign with immediate effect. This wish was granted by the Ministry of Health, and he left his position yesterday.

In a brief comment, Køtlum said the main reasons for his resignation were “poor communication” and “a lack of trust from the Ministry of Health”.

Third CEO resignation

Køtlum’s resignation comes only weeks after two other hospital CEOs resigned.

Heri Ellingsgaard, CEO of Klaksvík Hospital, and Ronnie Midjord, CEO of Suðuroy Hospital have also resigned, with effect from this summer.

Health minister Sirið Stenberg has asked deputy CEO Margit Stórá to take over as interim CEO of the National Hospital until a new management team for the hospital service has been put in place.
