Faroes “likely” to scrap summer time

The EU Parliament and numerous EU member states are planning to remove the mandatory summer time changes.
And now Prime Minister Aksel V. Johannesen has announced that the Faroes will follow suit if our neighbouring countries scrap summer time clock changes.
A majority of the EU Parliament has agreed that from 2021 EU member states should be allowed to decide themselves whether or not to implement the mandatory clock changes.
No firm decision yet
However, it seems unlikely that the EU Council of Ministers will approve this proposal.
After a public consultation in which 4.6 million EU citizens were consulted, the European Commission last year proposed that member states should scrap this mandatory requirement. Of the 4.6 million people, 84 percent said they wanted to do away with the clock changes.
The current regulations regarding winter time and summer time in the Faroes are in force until the end of 2021.
