Salaries exceeded DKK 10 billion last year
Faroese salaries have been on a steady rise since 2013
16 percent of last year’s salary payments came from the construction and manufacturing industries

In 2019, salaries for the Faroese workforce exceeded the DKK 10 billion mark for the first time, according to Statistics Faroe Islands.

Last year’s salaries increased by 6.8 percent on 2018.

There has been a steady growth in salaries since 2013 when the wages totalled just over DKK 7 billion.

The difference between men and women remained the same as in 2018, with men taking home some 63 percent of the salaries and women 37 percent.

Almost 64 percent of last year’s salary payments came from the public and private service industries, 20 percent from the resources industries including the fishery industry, and 16 percent came from the construction and manufacturing industries.
