All daycare centres in capital region to close
The 30 daycare institutions in Tórshavn municipality will close next week as a safety precaution after Covid-19 was found in three of the centres.
One of the three centres, Lítliskógur in the east end of Tórshavn, has already closed.
It is not yet clear which other daycare centres are affected.
”The rapid growth in positive Covid-19 tests over the past few days and the accompanying uncertainty are forcing us to take these precautionary measures,” says Tórshavn mayor Annika Olsen. “I urge all parents to keep their children at home or to get relatives to look after them until we have a clearer understanding of the situation.”

The City Council will now test all daycare staff in an effort to prevent further spread of the virus.
Parents who require emergency childcare are asked to contact Tórshavn City Council.
The daycare centres in Tórshavn Municipality will initially remain shut until 17 August.
