Hundreds, even thousands, of people are queuing for hours to get tested for Covid-19 today.

The car queue for tests at Tórshavn’s National Hospital currently stretches all the way from the hospital to the Glasir college at Marknagil, forming a 2.2 kilometre-long semicircle around the city.

Yesterday also saw long queues at the two testing stations in Tórshavn (the National Hospital and private test lab Thetis at Hoyvíksvegur 51) and at the hospitals in Klaksvík and Tvøroyri.

About 2,000 tests were carried out yesterday, which is the highest number since the Covid-19 outbreak in March.

Up until yesterday, the chief medical officer has been publishing the number of the previous day’s positive tests early the following morning.

However, with the high volume of testing taking place this week, the total results of yesterday’s tests will probably not be published until later today. Yesterday's announcement came just after 7pm.

People who are awaiting their test result are urged to be extra cautious until they receive their result. If you have not been contacted by the chief medical officer by the time yesterday’s test results are published today, your test is to be regarded as negative.
