From tomorrow, 1 October, everyone travelling to the Faroe Islands will have to pay DKK 312 for their mandatory Covid-19 test.

However, patients returning from treatment abroad will be exempted from this fee, as will any guardians travelling with the patients.

The new law will remain in force from tomorrow until 1 January 2021.

Up to now, the government has spent some DKK 23 million on Covid tests at the borders.

From tomorrow, Smyril Line and Atlantic Airways will be collecting the test fees from regular travellers, while tax authority Taks will collect the fees from people arriving on fishing ships or pleasure boats.
