Three applicants for seven GP vacancies

Only three people applied for the seven GP vacancies that were advertised recently.

One application came for the position in the Norðoya medical district and two for the one in the Suðurstreymoy medical district.

No-one applied for the two vacancies in Suðuroy, the two in Skálafjørður and the one in Vestmanna.

When six GP vacancies were advertised in May this year, no applications came in.

The clinics with no permanent GP positions will continue to be manned by substitute doctors.

Heilsutrygd (the Public Health Insurance) is working on a plan to add three new GP clinics to the existing 34 – one in Tórshavn, one in Klaksvík and one in Fuglafjørður.
