An eventful night of partying

The night of 26 December – 2. Jólakvøld, or second Christmas night – has long been one of the biggest party nights of the year in the Faroes.
Although the streets of the country’s major cities were nowhere near as busy as usual on this night, a lot of partygoers had made their way to the streets of Tórshavn and Klaksvík.
Tórshavn’s bars and nightclubs adhered to the Covid recommendation and closed at 11pm, but the bars in Klaksvík remained open until the early hours of this morning.
Police are investigating an alleged act of violence in Klaksvík, and residents of a house in Tórshavn called the police after a drunk and disorderly person had forced entry into the house.
The person spent the night in police custody.
Police also booked two drivers for drink driving last night, one in Tórshavn and one in Eysturoy.
On Christmas Day at around 9pm, police received a report of a break-in at the Zarepta Christian camp school in Vatnsoyrar, Vágar.
Police have taken a person into custody, charged with burglary and theft. The person has pleaded guilty to the charges.
