After finishing as runners-up in the top football league last season, Havnar Bóltfelag had aimed for the top this season.
Part of this ambition was the hiring of Danish head coach Kim Engstrøm, who signed a three-year deal ahead of this season.
But the results have not lived up to the club’s high ambitions. With only seven points over the past seven games, HB currently ranks fourth in the top league table, 14 points behind leaders and defending champions KÍ.
This prompted the club to start looking for a new head coach. Shortly after the announcement of Engstrøm’s dismissal came the news that HB had signed Swedish Dalibor Savic as its new head coach.
Savic joins HB from Swedish first-division club Dalkurd FF.
