U-20 Handball: Faroes beat Denmark

The Faroese Under-20 national handball team today won their first game in the 2022 European Men's U-20 Handball Championship.
They narrowly saw off one of the championship favourites, Denmark, with a score of 33-32.
This is the first time in history that the Faroe Islands beat Denmark in a competitive international handball match at any level.
“I can’t think of a greater sensation in Faroese handball,” says sports commentator Sjúrður Hildarson Hoydal.
Strong group
Sixteen teams participate in the championships, and the Faroes are said to be in one of the strongest groups which, in addition to Denmark, includes Slovenia and Bulgaria.
When this same age group played in the U-18 European Championships, Slovenia finished in fourth place and Denmark finished fifth.
The Faroese team plays Slovenia tomorrow at 12 noon. The game will be televised live on KvF’s TV station and streamed live on kvf.fo.
