A week with many tourist accidents in mountains
At least four tourists have suffered bone fractures this week after hiking in the mountains

Rescue services were called to Kalsoy’s popular ‘Kallurin’ lighthouse area (pictured above) twice this week after tourists fractured their legs during hiking.

Another tourist fractured a leg while hiking on Streymoy’s Norðradalsskarði mountain.

Rescue services were also called to Nólsoy this week after a tourist had fractured an arm.

“It is not unusual for us to receive reports like these in the summer season as many tourists go on unguided hikes, but four bone fractures in one week is quite uncommon,” says a police spokesperson.
