House insulation made from Faroese sheep’s wool is expected to hit the market next year

Faroese wool can be used for more than just knitting. It is also a great material for insulating houses, says Óli Kristian á Torkilsheyggi, CEO of yarn manufacturer Navia

Yarn manufacturer Navia is in the final stages of producing house insulation material made out of sheep’s wool.
“All the necessary trials are completed,” says Navia CEO Óli Kristian á Torkilsheyggi. “The next step is to create a data sheet with detailed information about the material.”
The tests show that Faroese sheep’s wool is very well suited for house insulation.
Due to the waviness of the wool fibre, it forms tiny air sacks that trap air and consecutively store warmth in during winter and out during summer.
