Atlantic Airways has now reached 80 percent of the passenger figures from 2019

The national airline was due to launch a direct route between the Faroes and the United States last spring, but then came the pandemic.
The New York plan has since been put on hold, while the airline has been working on resuming its flights in Europe.

And this is going reasonably well, says Atlantic Airways CEO Jóhanna á Bergi as the airline has now reached about 80 percent of its pre-Covid passenger numbers.
The only thing that is certain about New York route, she adds, is that there will no direct flights this year.
